Bass Basics: The Rhythm Module System - From Letters to Words
Let's say you've been working intensively with the individual letters of the "Rhythm Module System" since issue 05/2024 and feel you've mastered the 21 puzzle pieces. Now the question is, how do you form your first words from these letters? And that brings us to the key word "module"! A module is part of a larger system. This means that the major rhythms of the world consist of precisely the 21 modules I introduced to you in the first two installments of the "Rhythm Module System." And this month, we'll be focusing on this very process of assembly: So far, I've advised you to always practice using the "On-Off Method." This is essential for internalizing the individual rhythm variations! In this case, "On-Off" means that you practice a specific rhythm module for the duration of a quarter note and then immediately take a pause for reflection for the same amount of time.
