We are building an army of wooden mannequins for the new Arms and Armor galleries at WAM! Constructed by our contractor, Sean Powell, the mannequins are designed with 3D computer software and made from birch plywood that will not react chemically with the suits of armor. Both half-body and full-body mannequins are being constructed, with rotating joints and adjustable limbs that allow each mannequin to be fitted to a specific armor in a customized position. A second contractor will finish the mannequins with foam padding and fabric to support and protect the armor. Check out this video for a detailed look at how the wooden mannequins are constructed.
