"Weaving Stories" with Sarah Sense
On April 21, 2024, Sarah Sense joined us to share her new work, "A Plan of Boston (2023)," on view in "New Terrain: 21st-Century Landscape Photography." Commissioned by the Worcester Art Museum in 2023, this work celebrates Native resilience in the face of the violent impacts of colonialism. Sense shared a look at the process that brought this work to life: weaving together photos of landscapes with 18th-century colonial maps using traditional basket-making techniques from her Chitimacha and Choctaw heritage.
