A Mysterious Expanding Fog Starts Mutating Everything - Humans Explore
"Annihilation" is a sci-fi horror film featuring Lena, a biologist and army veteran, who embarks on a dangerous covert operation into a mysterious zone called "The Shimmer," after her husband Kane mysteriously returns from the same mission severely ill. Inside The Shimmer, Lena and her team of scientists encounter various mutated life forms, evidence of DNA refraction and scrambling, implying that this zone is transforming everything it touches. Lena eventually confronts an entity that absorbs her DNA, creating a doppelgänger. After a tense encounter, she uses a phosphorous grenade to destroy it, causing The Shimmer to vanish. Back in the facility, Lena is unsure of the entity's intentions, believing it was not destructive, but rather aimed at creating something new. The film ends with Lena visiting Kane, whose condition has stabilized, but their identities and humanity are left in question.
