'Schets voor Xinci' (Sketch for Xinci) was written in one hour while on tour in Da Feng, China. After having been there for over two weeks I just couldn't resist the urge, and walked into a small music store in the local town to sit behind one of their pianos for a while, composing. I copied down the sketch inside the lobby of our hotel: Xin Ci.
We were unable to perform the piece in China, and it was finally premiered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands in June 2016 in the Batjanzaal.
