Master Chief and 343 Guilty Spark teleport into the Control Room to activate Halo, when it fails to fire. Cortana who was still in the system stops it from firing and explains to us that when Halo fires, it kills the Flood's food source...not the Flood themselves. Master Chief learns this and breaks the friendship with 343 Guilty Spark and Cortana sends him on a mission to disable the firing pins for the weapon.
