This AE Physics Plugin Just Got WAY More Powerful!! (Still FREE)
MatterAE just went to 2.0, and it's a proper upgrade.
The plugin bakes realtime physics straight into native After Effects keyframes, so once it's baked you can uninstall MatterAE and your animation still works. That hasn't changed. What's new:
Animator Stack — 15 stackable procedural behaviours (Wiggle, Float, Orbit, Swarm, Force Fields, Cell Split, Pop, Crumble, and more). Stack a few on one layer and you'll get motion that would be a genuine pain to hand-keyframe. Fair warning: stack the wrong combination and you get chaos, not control.
In-panel timeline — you can now keyframe the physics itself. Force fields that ramp up, a swarm that tightens over time, gravity that flips mid-animation.
Shape Studio — draw shapes directly in the panel, assign colours, run an emitter, bake to native AE shape layers.
Plus a stack of fixes and small additions, including hollow shapes.
The free version is still the entire plugin — every feature above works with zero restrictions except a 3-second bake cap. £27ish/$35 one-time removes that cap for good, no subscription. Free for students and teachers. If you already own 1.x, 2.0 is a free update.
