How to improve communication? How in our communication dominated world can we ensure our communication is received, understood and acted upon by the recipients we want to inform or influence?
My name is Darren and you’re at the home of Sticky Learning – MBM – Trainers to the UK Grocery Industry and experts in making learning stick.
Building relationships with the people means we understand more about them and their preferences. This allows us to tailor communications to appeal to them and are more likely to receive the response we desire.
How to improve communication, remember, conversation is an art, key skills need to be practised and developed.
• Be good at initiating conversation, whether you are at a networking event or with a client. View people you don’t know, as an opportunity to learn more about them and their business.
• Some people are comfortable with silence, don’t slip into interrogation mode in your attempt to fill it.
• Be good at moving on to communicate with others, not leaving the members of your previous conversation feeling abandoned or rejected.
• Whilst it is an old book, reading ‘How to win friends and influence people’ is still a great book.
