Neuroblastoma Australia has been supporting the pre-clinical work behind this clinical trial since 2014, providing over $500k thanks to our supporters. It’s great to see it now move into phase 1 trial and shows how important it is to support the best pre-clinical research.
A new combination therapy has been discovered that is highly effective at reducing tumour growth in models of high-risk neuroblastoma, which has a survival rate of just 50%.Published in the international journal Clinical Cancer Research, the compounds, CBL0137 and panobinostat also jointly act to heighten the body’s immune response to cancer, which is important since immunotherapy in neuroblastoma is currently challenging. It is hoped this will lead to a new therapy for children with this devastating childhood cancer.
