Here's how to make a Potty Pad!
• How to Make a Potty Pad
Materials
-Fleece for inside/outside/potty pad
(Solid color fleece used for inside and potty pad; patterned fleece used for outside)
High loft batting
U-Haul padding
Scissors and pins
Thread and needle
Sewing machine
Paper to make pattern cutouts
Step 1: Cut out your patterns from paper
One 11-inch circle
One 10 1/2-inch circle
One 9 1/2-inch circle
One 30 1/2-inch x 5-inch strip
To cut out half moon: Fold strip in half both ways and mark center. Fold 11-inch circle both ways. Unfold both and lay center edge of circle with the center of strip. Make an outline of the circle on the strip and cut out.
One 29 1/2-inch x 4-inch strip
To cut out half moon: Fold strip in half. Unfold strip and measure down 2 3/8-inch and mark. Place center edge of 11-inch circle at 2 3/8-inch marking. Draw half-moon using circle as guide. Cut out half-moon.
Step 2
Use paper patterns to cut out the following:
One 11-inch circle
From patterned fleece for outside
From solid color fleece for inside
Two from 10 1/2-inch circle
From solid color fleece for inside
One 9 1/2-inch circle
From batting
Two 9 1/2-inch circles
From U-Haul padding
One 30 1/2-inch x 5-inch strip
From patterned fleece for outside
From solid color fleece for inside
One 29 1/2-inch x 4-inch strip
From batting
Step 3
Lay out 30 1/2-inch x 5-inch strip of solid inner fabric wrong side up.
Center 29 1/2-inch x 4-inch strip of batting on top of fabric and pin.
Stitch in place 1/4-inch from edge of batting.
Then fold strip in half right sides together and stitch short end.
Repeat the same for the outer fabric strip (Excluding batting steps)
Step 4
Lay out 11-inch circle of solid inner fabric wrong side up.
Center 9 1/2-inch circle of batting on top of fabric and pin.
Stitch in place 1/4-inch from edge of batting.
Step 5
Pin the inner fabric strip to the inner fabric circle, right sides together and stitch.
Repeat the same for the outer fabric.
Step 6
Place the inner and outer fabric right sides together and pin.
Stitch seam leaving a 3-4-inch opening for turning.
Step 7
Turn inside out. Tuck in seam allowance and pin.
Hand stitch closed.
POTTY PAD
Step 8
Lay out 10 1/2-inch circle of solid inner fabric wrong side up.
Center 9 1/2-inch circle of U-Haul padding on top of fabric and pin.
Stitch in place 1/4-inch from edge of U-Haul padding.
Make 2
Step 9
Place the inner fabrics right sides together and pin.
Stitch seam allowance leaving a 3-4-inch opening for turning.
Step 10
Turn inside out. Tuck in seam allowance and pin.
Hand stitch closed.
