The Mar Sem Fim team spent a day on Júlio Cardoso's boat, Ballerina, on a whale watching program in Ilhabela.
He was a pioneer in cetacean tagging. And Ilhabela has become the new location for the fastest-growing practice in the world: whale watching tourism.
Júlio and biologist Arlaine Francisco created the Whale Watching Project and began archiving the images, creating a database as is done all over the world.
Ilhabela's success in whale watching tourism is already generating jobs and income, boosting the economy while attracting more people to marine conservation.
