Every Star Wars Project Coming to Disney+ In 2021
Whether the Coronavirus Pandemic influenced their decision or not, which seems more than likely since the movie industry took a massive hit for most of 2020, Disney claimed that original streaming was going to become the number one priority moving forward, and it seems that they have stayed true to that claim with the announcement of their huge catalog of original content set within their biggest franchises.
With Star Wars being one of Disney's biggest and popular brands, it will and has played a big part in the expansion of original content for the all powerful mouse, not to mention that ‘The Mandalorian’ is the biggest in-house Disney hit Disney+ has produced. During its 2nd season, it was 5 times more popular than anything the streaming platform had to offer.
We won't be seeing the return of Mando until the first quarter of 2022 at the earliest, but that doesn't mean we won't have a ton of content to hold us off until then! There are three major Star Wars shows coming to the Disney+ streaming platform before the end of the year. The highly anticipated ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ arrives in December, with Temuera Morrison’s legendary bounty hunter taking center stage, as Robert Rodriguez joins the creative dream team of Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni to executive produce.
Meanwhile, ‘The Mandalorian’s great success has resulted in a great amount of hype and popularity for ‘The Clone Wars’ and ‘Rebels’, so the timing for ‘The Bad Batch’ could not have been any better. The animated spin-off hasn't been given an official release date yet but the studio debuted an action-packed trailer that would indicate that it isn’t too far away.
