If We Don't Escalate, We Won't Survive

Oppression is escalating. Most people can feel it. But many of us are so busy surviving day-to-day life that we barely have the capacity to react, let alone respond strategically.

This episode asks a critical question: If oppression is escalating, how should we escalate our response?

Authoritarian systems depend on one thing: keeping people overwhelmed, distracted, and reacting emotionally instead of organizing. When outrage cycles dominate our attention and communities remain isolated, power concentrates quietly in the hands of autocrats and oligarchs.

But history shows another possibility... For thousands of years, liberation movements have challenged empires, dictatorships, and systems of domination. Ordinary people have organized, built solidarity, and transformed the world before. The question now is whether we can do it again.

In this episode we explore why overwhelm, avoidance, and performative social media outrage cannot replace real organizing, and why telling the truth about what is actually happening is the first step toward liberation.

We focus on three essential shifts:

1. Stop Masking
Speak honestly about what is happening. Systems built on extraction and domination will not simply return to normal. Real change begins when people stop pretending everything is fine.

2. Organize Locally
Liberation starts with communities. Speak openly with your neighbors and see who shows up. The people around you may be far more ready than you think.

3. Plan for Survival
If food systems, water systems, healthcare, or education systems begin to fail, what will your community do? Preparation, cooperation, and mutual aid can determine whether communities collapse or endure.

Bri also shares personally about the emotional weight of living in this moment. Many people feel pressure to stay silent or pretend things are normal. But throughout history, powerful voices for liberation often emerged during the darkest periods of oppression.

The reality is serious. If our systems collapse and communities are unprepared, the consequences could be catastrophic.

But a different future is still possible... A future not built on slavery, domination, and extraction, but on cooperation, love, and art. The window to change course may be small. The question is whether we choose to act before it closes...
