Why MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) is Bad for Everybody Except Corporations
In this video editorial, Lorne Bregitzer, a professor at the University of Colorado Denver, explains why MQA or Master Quality Authenticated is bad for musicians and the consumer. I talk about why it’s not even the best high-resolution audio format, as well why it’ll cost consumers more money. The only ones who stand to gain are Meridian Audio, Major Record Labels, such as Warner Music Group, and Sony Music, and high end equipment manufactures. The technology is out of reach of the independent artist, and prevents you from using the hardware that you already own. FLAC or Free Lossless Audio Codec provides all of the benefits for free to consumers, record companies, and musicians. DRM exists in the form of purchasing more expensive audio hardware.
