The Masters Series is presented by industry professionals who have used Autodesk technology to create excellent solutions to a problem their organization faced.
“InfraWorks 360 in the Real World” – Julie Turner-Mitchell has been a self-employed, self-taught AutoCAD and Civil 3D user for over 20 years. She has taken that unknown step into the “Cloud,” working with InfraWorks 360 on a project for her current employer, the City of Aurora.
Julie takes the term innovation seriously and was instrumental in undertaking the task of learning the newest technology and putting it to use on a $680-million dollar project for the City of Aurora. Julie’s work and the I-225 Light Rail project were recognized by Autodesk in Eric Chappell’s article, “InfraWorks 360 Opens Doors for Colorado User--Who’s Next?”
Join Julie as she discusses her approach to building the existing terrain using available GIS data, incorporating 3D models she obtained from the Internet, and using ESRI coverages to get the right amount of detail and definition to ensure that the project would be successful. Once she had the existing conditions represented, Julie used her design knowledge and her Civil 3D skills to put together an impressive 10.5 miles of light rail track with eight stations, providing a data-rich InfraWorks 360 model that has become a prototype for other agencies taking on similar projects.
