The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) and the National Housing Authority (NHA) today signed a Usufruct Agreement granting DOST-PTRI the use of an 80,000-square-meter portion of Lot 1834-B, located at the Andam Mouswag Project in Barangay Imelda, Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.
Under the agreement, the NHA, as the landowner under Transfer Certificate of Title No. 29695, grants DOST-PTRI the right to use the property free of charge for a period of 25 years beginning January 1, 2026, with an option for renewal. This arrangement stems from NHA Board Resolution No. 7474, dated March 27, 2025.
Also present during the signing was Makati Mayor Nancy Binay, a staunch supporter of the SEDA Pilipinas Program, who reaffirmed her commitment to advancing local silk production and textile innovation across the country.
This agreement solidifies the partnership between DOST-PTRI and NHA in ensuring that research, development, and technical services for the Philippine silk industry will continue and expand over the next 25 years through the establishment of the DOST-PTRI Technology Center in Misamis Oriental.
