Roku Streambar - Should You Buy?
Should you buy the new Roku Streambar? The Roku Streambar is a new soundbar and streaming device from Roku, capable of streaming 4K HDR video content and comes packed with other new features I will explain in this video. The price of the Roku Streambar is going be $130, and is available for pre order right now on Roku's website as well as Amazon. The official release date of the Roku Streambar will be October 15th 2020 in the US, Canada, Mexico and the UK.
The Roku Streambar is the spiritual successor to the Roku Smart Soundbar released last year for a price of $180. The main difference between these two devices is the size, with the Smart Soundbar having a length of 32 inches, and the Streambar having a length of only 14 inches. The Streambar features 4 full range speaker drivers that output decent Stereo audio, and can be paired with the Roku Wireless Speakers and a Roku Wireless Subwoofer to create a seamless surround sound system for under $450. The Streambar also comes with a bluetooth receiver, and Spotify connect which can be used to play music wirelessly. Other exciting integrations are Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, HomeKit, and last but not least AirPlay 2. AirPlay 2 integration will allow users to easily cast content from their iPhones, iPads, or Macs directly to their TV.
Unfortunately the Roku Streambar only supports PCM and Dolby Audio formats, and if you are interested in Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos you will instead have to buy the new Roku Ultra for $100. The Roku Ultra will also be available for pre order right now, and will have the same release date of October 15th 2020. If you want all of the features found in the Roku Streambar but dont need a soundbar or don't want to spend the extra money, Roku has stated that the $50 Roku Stream Stick Plus has equivalent streaming capabilities when compared to the Streambar. Overall this is a fantastic little device for the price, and for those who are looking to upgrade their audio to the next level from just having TV speakers, the Roku Streambar is worth a buy.
