It is very simple to create a rogue access point these days.
Here is an example with Flipper Zero. So on Flipper Zero, I can go to Application and GPIO.
And I can select Evil Portal.
Then I can start an evil portal. What you will see is it says starting up free wifi ip address: 192.168.4.1 web server is up.
So now the Flipper zero is now running a rogue access point. So on my phone, if I search for Wifi Networks what I will see is Free Wifi.
I have just connected to that free Wifi.
On my browser, If I try to go to Google.com
You'll notice that I'm prompted for a Starlink login.
Many types of portals can be used.
You could for example ask people to put in their facebook details.
I put in a username let's say [email protected] and enter my password as Mypassword and click next.
That's submitted.
And What you'll notice is on the Flipper Zero.
I have been able to capture the username and the password.
You should be really careful connecting to free wifi.
