In this video (and pep talk), we're talking about why you might be stuck and overwhelmed as a songwriter.
Rarely are we feeling stuck and overwhelmed because we're stuck, untalented, or simply run out of juice permanently - though we may be tempted to start to doubt ourselves!
The truth is we usually are stuck and overwhelmed because we have bitten off more than we can chew, or tried to write expert-level songs before writing novice-level songs and intermediate-level songs.
We wouldn't try calculus before algebra and algebra before multiplication and there's a reason for that.
The same reason we learn to crawl before we walk and walk before we run.
The same reason we draw stick figures before we draw photo-realistic people.
The same reason we ride a tricycle before a bicycle.
So let's crawl-walk-run as songwriters, but ALSO challenge ourselves at the EDGE of our ability. Because we also don't grow and get stuck if we don't push ourselves.
