We have been getting a rash of phone calls at our office in Denver from individuals and businesses that have been on the receiving end of a telephone tech support scam.
Callers are being told "the tech support" department can see that you computer has been compromised or that you have viruses. They then direct the caller to go to a website that will allow them to remotely access your computer show they can show you the issues. They then ask for your credit card number so you can pay them to give you a computer virus.
No reputable company is going to call you in this manner. If you get a call like this, disconnect immediately.
