When developing and testing a website, you need realistic content to test with. However, development environments often contain only limited test data. This hinders accurate testing and slows down your workflow. You need a quick way to copy your production content to your development environment. And that’s exactly what we’re releasing today.
Prepr's new Environment-to-Environment Content Export allows you to easily copy content items across environments.
This simple content export saves you time and ensures you have realistic content for development and testing. Ultimately, this simplifies development and testing, leading to a higher-quality product.
This is how it works:
First, check if the schema in the target environment is up-to-date. If not, you can sync the schema first. Here, you can see we have an empty dev environment. There are no content items or assets.
Next, go to the production environment and select the content items you want to copy.
Click export, select the destination environment and start a test run.
Prepr checks all the content items and validates if they are okay to export. In this case, there is an error because the titles are too long. Let's fix it by changing the validation rules. However, there are other options to resolve errors as well.
When there are no more errors, you can start the export. Here we go.
Just sit back and wait until the export finishes.
Dumda dum da dum da dum da dum da dum da dum. Are we there yet? Ah voila, there we are!!!
You now have an exact copy of the production content in your development environment for better testing.
And that’s how easy it is to copy content across environments with Prepper CMS.
