大幟が立てられる伝統のお祭りです。20m以上ある大幟が10本以上立つ様子は壮観。
Today I woke up before dawn to witness Nobori Matsuri at Shinozaki's Sengen Shrine, the oldest shrine in Edogawa-ku.
Sengen shrines scattered throughout Japan were built for the worship of Mt. Fuji. The festival celebrates the official opening day of Mt. Fuji on July 1st by putting up ten giant banners of more than 20 meters high and 1 ton each.
Watching the preparation's rituals on the rhythm of drums and chanting, the giant poles being lifted up in the air, not without having its moments of fright when it suddenly veered over the crowd, was very impressive!
