BLEED CLUTCH & BRAKE FLUID YOURSELF This is easy to do and requires only a few tools and some patience. Brake fluid can go bad and requires bleeding or flushing and replacing with fresh brake fluid. Brake fluid is hygroscopic which means it absorbs moisture from the air which can make it more acidic or caustic to the brake lines and other brake components. Moisture is basically water and water has a lower boiling point than brake fluid. During braking, the fluid in the brake lines heat up and when moisture in the brake lines boils it vaporizes turning into gas or air. This is bad for braking because air compresses which, depending on the volume, can diminish your vehicle's braking force. Not to mention that moisture contributes to accelerated corrosion inside your brake system.
The brake system in most vehicles like Toyotas are pretty much a sealed system which helps prevent moisture contamination of the brake fluid thereby prolonging the interval of brake fluid replacement. However, not all cars are made like Toyotas but all cars require brake fluid change at one time or another. This video tutorial shows you how easy it is to do the brake fluid flushing on your own. Doing the brake fluid bleeding yourself can save you money and give you the satisfaction of knowing that your car actually got the maintenance service that it needs. You don't have to second guess whether or not the mechanic or service representative actually did the work that you paid for because nothing beats actually doing the task yourself.
