"Contact" is a term that defines the connection between the rider's hand and the horse's mouth. You adjust your reins to keep them consistently taut and aim to follow the horse's natural swaying motion through the suppleness of your arms, elbows, and entire body. Aside from the fact that it's difficult at first to know if your contact is firm and comfortable enough without being too harsh, you must also ensure that you aren't inadvertently jerking the horse's mouth. Therefore, you need to work on your balance and suppleness in the saddle. At the end of the lesson, don't forget to give your horse a pat, a scratch, and some praise. ❤️ 🐎 😊 👌 🌟 🏇
