In 1964-65 the televison series titled "Survival" was broadcast. It dealt with natural and man made disasters of the 20th century and was narrated by actor James Whitmore. This particular episode, via The Discovery Channel, describes the worst industrial accident in the history of the United States that took place between the dates of April 16-18, 1947 and became well known as "The Texas City Disaster."
Three excellent books written about this horrific event are, "The Texas City Disaster, 1947" by Hugh W. Stephens, "City of Fire" (The Forgotten Disaster That Devastated a Town and Ignited a Landmark Legal Battle) by Bill Minutaglio and "Disaster at Texas City" by Ron Stone (seen interviewing survivor, C.P. Suderman, at 14:33).
