Lobit Elementary GENTS Club
Lobit Elementary Counselor Marco Esparza leads the G.E.N.T.S. club at LES in a variety of tasks everyday on campus. The GENTS club was created in the spring of 22 to support a positive student community at Lobit Elementary, and since then it has gained participation from nearly fifty 3rd and 4th grade boys.
G.E.N.T.S. stands for Gators Entrusted with Notable Traits and Skills. This group of students provides a service to the school each day by assisting with car rider arrival and dismissal, helping other students get to class, and monitoring the hallways. Mr. Esparza has also worked with the GENTS to teach them how to properly raise and fold our USA and Texas flags on the flag pole every morning. These tasks build a sense of pride and responsibility among the students.
The boys report each morning to put on their uniform, a necktie, tied by themselves, fellow GENTS, or Mr. Esparza. Teaching the GENTS how to tie a tie was just one of the invaluable skills that was relayed to the students.
"The idea of starting a boys club at school has been an idea of mine for at least the last 10 years or more," said Mr. Esparza. "I love this opportunity to mentor these boys and to teach them life skills that could benefit them for the rest of their lives."
G.E.N.T.S. Club members have already impacted the Lobit community in such a positive way. In the spring of 2023, the current members will begin mentoring a group of 2nd grade boys as a way to prepare them for next year. The G.E.N.T.S. Club has been a great way to mold our student body leaders into young men who will lead the way for our community in the future.
Students who would like to be part of the GENTS club must apply in the beginning of the school year. The students in this club must meet the expectation for good behavior, good grades, and good attendance to be considered.
