Music lovers, get ready for an exciting new project - in this #LiveCoding video, I'm kicking off the development of "#RetroPulse", a minimalist #ModPlayer built right into your menu bar!

#TrackerMusic files, also known as Mod files, were hugely popular in the 90s demoscene and as part of all the games of the #ChipTune era. Using a powerful tech stack of #RustLang, TypeScript/Next.js, and Tauri, I'll create a lightweight, distraction-free player that seamlessly integrates with your workflow.

Join me as I bootstrap this project from the ground up! In this first video, I'll bring together all the core components - from decoding Mod files with libopenmpt to handling audio playback with the CPAL library. By the end, you'll see me play a short musical piece, which is just the beginning of more videos documenting the development of this app.
