The NAZI Interrogator Who Inspired The US
Most people think of interrogators as stern, intimidating figures who use threats and violence to get information out of their prisoners. But Hanns Scharff was different. He was a Nazi interrogator who was known for his gentle, persuasive methods. He never used violence or threats, and he always treated his prisoners with respect.
Scharff's methods were based on the idea that people are more likely to cooperate if they are treated with kindness and respect. He would often start by asking his prisoners about their families, their hobbies, or their interests. He would then use this information to build rapport with them and make them feel comfortable.
Once he had established rapport, Scharff would start to ask more specific questions about the prisoner's military service. He would always be careful to avoid making threats or accusations, and he would always be willing to listen to the prisoner's side of the story.
As a result of his gentle, persuasive methods, Scharff was able to get a wealth of information out of his prisoners. He learned about Allied airbases, troop movements, and even new weapons systems.
Scharff's methods were so successful that they were eventually adopted by other interrogators around the world. Today, his methods are still considered to be some of the most effective ways to get information from prisoners.
