Categories. Definitions and examples.
Category theory provides a convenient language for passing from one branch of mathematics to another. In this video, we give the definition of a category and some basic examples. We show how the notion of isomorphisms appears in several different branches of mathematics because it can be formulated purely using categorical notions. We also look at some other categorical notions, that of initial, terminal and null objects.
