This is the second tutorial looking at first person character controls that can be used to navigate a 3D web based scene. The controls are familiar to PC gamers who use the controls to navigate in first person shooter games.
The first tutorial looked at the basic set up, this tutorial looks at obstacles the character can interact with e.g. ramps, rigid bodies and stairs.
The character can walk up and down slopes, by experimentation the steepest ramp the character could walk up was at an angle of 42 degrees.
The character can push and bounce into rigid bodies. Cubes were made with different masses, the heavier ones are harder to push. Materials have a Special Collision check box where elasticity and friction properties can be set.
For a character to walk up and down stairs, step height and steepness are factors. The tutorial shows how to make stairs that the character can walk up.
The file created in the tutorial can be downloaded from my website -
