Should you get your dogs ears cropped and tail docked? This is a very opinionated subject and I would love to know your personal thoughts and opinions in the comments. Breeds such as the Doberman Pinscher are born with natural floppy ears and long, thin tails. If the breeder prefers the look, they will have the tails docked at 2 to 5 days old and ears cropped at 7 to 9 weeks of age. Some people are so used to the image of a Doberman with cropped ears and a docked tail, that they don't recognize a floppy eared dog of the same breed as a Doberman.
Modifying the ears and tail is illegal in many Countries, but it is still very common in the United States. It's a personal choice, although, sometimes the choice has already been made for the pet parent by someone else. So try not to judge a person by the appearance of their dog, no matter your stance on the subject. Lets admire the dogs and learn from each other.
If you do decide to have your dogs ears and tail done, please have it done by a veterinarian.
