Northern Lights Time Lapse - Dusk to Dawn
With the Planetary K-Index at almost 9, it was pretty much a guarantee to see Northern Lights here in SE Minnesota. This video is a compilation of 7,134 images and spans the time from sundown to sunup (10/10/24).
The display started out with a wash-out -- there was very little detail but rather a bright glow that encompassed about 60% of the sky. Things did change overtime with incredible views all the way past the zenith.
The lights subsided a bit after 11pm, but continued through the rest of the night with continuous lights to the north.
As always, be aware that taking images with cameras brings out the colors and details. Seeing the lights with your own eyes subdues the vivid colors found with camera recordings.
