The idea and expectation of what's considered normal it's sky-high in Switzerland. The peer pressure to keep up with everything here in Switzerland is just incredibly high. Temptation is everywhere, and everyone seems happy with their consumption habits.
Addiction is a serious issue in Switzerland. According to the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) 5% of the Swiss population suffers from shopping addiction.
And all of this just because of social pressure?
Not only, but the fact is, we end up spending more money than we originally planned.
You want to be a part of it, at this level and consistently keeping up with it requires a ton of energy and resources.
Everyone's in on it, and if you're not, you're a party pooper.
And, let's be real, it's not a popular topic of discussion in Switzerland. It's disruptive, it ruins the fun.
The crazy thing is, most people aren't aware of the social pressure. You only truly feel it when you say, "STOP!!!" When you want to break out of the rat race, that’s when the full force hits you!
And if you want to save to build something, you've got to stay very consistent.
We also love the good things in life, no doubt. But, we've got a long-term goal too.
Financial freedom... and that takes some effort.
You have to break free from society's expectations to step off the never-ending carousel.
For us, financial freedom means not having to work for money anymore.
It's about having income from investments - that covers our expenses without touching the Assets.
