Episode #6 (Season 1) Pablo Delfini
When he was studying Fine Arts, Pablo discovered that printmaking allowed him to create images without using any references, nothing to copy from reality. Instead, he could create internal, intimate images. This was one of the reasons he chose to dedicate himself to this technique. The other was the possibility it gave him to multiply the image. “You work with a matrix from which you can make many prints, identical or not. At least in my work, I try not to print all the same prints, but rather nearly identical ones,” he told us in his Barracas studio.

For years, he has been developing a less toxic printmaking process in his studios, replacing harmful products with those that are detrimental to health and the environment. For example, he uses vegetable oils instead of turpentine, or saline mordants, which are less dangerous.

During his time studying Fine Arts, he attended the Manuel Belgrano School (1982), the Prilidiano Pueyrredón School (1985), and the Ernesto de la Cárcova School (1994), specializing in Printmaking. He also studied Animation at the Avellaneda Institute of Cinematographic Art (1983). In 1999, he participated in a Seminar on New Lithographic Techniques at the University of Victoria, Vancouver, Canada, and in 2001 in a Lithography Workshop at the CIEC Foundation, International Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Betanzos, Galicia, Spain. In 2016, his work received the Grand Prize of Honor for Engraving at the National Salon.
