Episode #5 (Season 1) Desirée De Ridder
Desirée is a ceramic artist, born and raised in Perkins, Buenos Aires Province, surrounded by the flat horizons of the pampas and native animals. And although she lives in Buenos Aires, she increasingly escapes to her birthplace, hoping that one day it will be forever. There she lives surrounded by her animals: her dogs, roosters, hens, sheep, pigs, horses, and many birds. Desirée reflects on and defends animal life through her incredible ceramic pieces.
She completed her teacher training in Painting at the Prilidiano Pueyrredón Institute (UNA). In 1999, she studied Animation at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. She then lived in Paris until the end of 2003, producing paintings. Between 2004 and 2006, she deepened her study of different ceramic techniques and has since worked with clay as her fundamental element. Her work, "Those Who Leave" (ceramics painted with pigments, oxides, and glazes) from the Exodus series, won third prize in Ceramics at the National Salon in 2016.
