The relationship between void ratio and effective stress is quantified by the Coefficient of Compressibility, av, which is defined as the slope of the void ratio – effective stress curve.
and when the test data is plotted with void ratio on linear scale and effective stress on log scale, slope of the curve is Compression Index (Cc).
