Chapter 75 - Over Consolidated Soil and Normally Consolidated Soil | OCR
If the effective stress generated by new load on soil is the maximum that the soil has ever experienced in its history, the soil is called Normally Consolidated Soil.
While on the other hand, soils, which have experienced a higher effective stress in the past than they are experiencing now, are called Overconsolidated soils.
