Who's cleaning your house?
This summer, we're doing our best to not pay a housekeeper and do it ourselves. We were paying about $800 a month for our housekeeper, so this summer we are splitting the house, breaking traditional gender roles, and deep cleaning our own house.
Traditionally, cleaning and housework have often been seen as women's responsibilities, but it's 2024, and it's time to challenge these outdated norms. In an effort to divide and conquer, my husband took sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and changing the bedding; I handled getting the crockpot started for dinner, dishes, cleaning the kitchen, cleaning the bathrooms, and folding the laundry. Our tips for dividing chores fairly: make it playful and play to your strengths.
