Oh Woodstock. We were really rooting for you. What have you done now?
If you haven’t been keeping up, Woodstock is planning (or trying to plan) a 50th anniversary concert, boasting names like The Killers, Jay-Z, and Miley Cyrus. The event is scheduled for August 16-18, but here’s the catch.
Woodstock 50 has had significant trouble getting off the ground. Originally, the event was taking place in Watkins Glen, New York. The festival lost that venue last month and has been on the hunt for a new one.
Then they found a space in Vernon, New York - but their permit was denied. They appealed that denial and they got another denial on Monday, July 22nd. One city official even called the plan “worthless.”
The event now has no venue, has no permit, and tickets have yet to go on sale. Will the organizers be able to pull this one off? Only time will tell on this one. We’ll have to wait and see if Woodstock 50 can get it together.
