Generational Humour: Today we are going to be looking at memes and humour across the 4 main generations, if you are however part of Gen Alpha and you are watching this, then ermm 3 2 1 and yea they have all clicked off by now so we don’t have to worry about those guys. Ill be looking at critiquing the humour from each generation whether that be in the form of political cartoons or comic strips for the boomers and Xers or just memes in the form of millennials and gen zs. And at the end we will be crowning one generation with the title of most cringe so place your bets in the comments below but with that said lets begin with the boomers and boomer humour. I know the boomers get a lot of slack for lacking self awareness most of the time. But its this complete obliviousness that have allowed them to become legendary shtposters. Most of boomer humour can be summed up with 3 types of humour, 1 hate wife, 2 technology bad and 3 immeasurable horniness. Lets take a look at some boomer comics to show you what I mean. Well start off with a simple one. “White smoke means she decided what to cook, Black smoke means its done” hahahah this one obviously fits into the hate wife category but its kinda hilarious, very simple and concise but gets the point across, which is something we will be looking at a lot later… looking at you millennials. It’s a guy humour joke about women bad, but its just so funny I cant stop laughing at these, like here is another for example. “ I hate bothering you, but my wife wants to know if she passed her driving test”. Again very simple punchline of wife bad but this time wife bad, driver, I don’t know what cultural shift happened with these boomer comics, but originally they were all extremely cringe but they have just aged like wine because they just embody the very essence of the shtpost, unabashed in its misogyny and its this brazenness which make them just hilarious. Another one that is extremely funny. “ I figured you should have breakfast in bed for your birthday, can you reach the stove okay?” I feel like a lot of the humour from boomer comics like these are done through misdirection and subversion of expectations which I also tend to use in my videos which is maybe why I find them so enjoyable. I have a lot more of these that id like to share so heres a quick highlight reel. “The Gods told me I could either roll this rock up a mountain for eternity or try to win an argument with mrs Sisyphus. This just made more sense to me.” “This is the pig I have sex with when you have a headache” , “that’s a sheep” “Im talking to the frickin sheep” “Are you going to read a book this whole time? That’s so rude” okay but this one I have to say is just stupid because I know the punchline is har har phone bad but the lady is just as stupid for reading a book on what is supposed to be a date. In fact checking your phone is pretty common, pulling out a hardback isnt.
“I now pronounce you husband and wife, let the nagging begin” “Of course I want you to speak your mind, just give me a minute to leave the room first” This bill abbott comic artist has a disgusting art style but he does write some pretty funny one liners. “wheres my pain?, you met her in the waiting room” Now these are all older comics and drawings, but the best part about boomer humour is that they retained their shthousery even into their twilight years. I mean just take a look at this old fella, he is hella sturdy. And this next one I quote damn near everyday, “whats all that movement back there” boomer hornyness is unmatched. And for the last one a generational shtpost imo. The boomers have a unique ability to be genuinely funny even if it is completely on accident.
The next generation that we are going to be looking at is Gen X and im just going to say it, there is no easter bunny there is no tooth fairy and there is definitely no Gen X proven easily by the fact that they dont have their own dedicated wojak unlike the boomers soylennials and zoomers, well okay they exist its just that you can easily just split them into two groups which are dilutions of the generations before and after, the first being Neo Boomers who are in all respects basically the same as boomers but because they have had less lead exposure they are less funny but also less annoying and the proto millennials who share many traits with the millennials although they are less cringe and probably own their own house. Also, there isnt really any examples of Gen X humour that come to mind, you could name comedians but they aren’t representative of their entire generation. I do have to add though that Kanye West is technically Gen X and hes hilarious so you guys some bonus points, this recent tweet of his has to go into a tweeting hall of fame because its just that good
