OMG...that CRUNCH! I love fried chicken (doesn't everyone love fried chicken?) and KFC has been doing it right for years. Try this copycat Kentucky Fried Chicken recipe and let me know what you think!
Ingredients:
6-8 pieces of chicken (e.g., drumsticks, thighs, wings, breasts)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon dried basil
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1/2 tablespoon celery salt
1/2 tablespoon pepper
1 tablespoon dried mustard
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1/2 tablespoon white pepper
1 cup buttermilk (or regular milk with 1 tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice)
Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
1. Marinate chicken in buttermilk for 2 hours or overnight.
2. Mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, basil, oregano, celery salt, black pepper, white pepper, ginger, mustard powder, and half of the salt in a bowl.
3. Dredge chicken in the seasoned flour mixture, pressing coating firmly.
4. Fry chicken in 350-375°F (175-190°C) oil for 12-15 minutes until golden-brown and crispy.
5. Drain on a wire rack or paper towels.
6. Rest for a few minutes before serving.
