1. The Largest Shark Ever to Have Lived

It is estimated that the megalodon reached lengths of between 50 and 70 feet in length throughout its lifetime. It was the largest shark that has ever lived. The length of three great white sharks is equal to that! It was estimated that it weighed anywhere from 53 to 114 short tonnes, which is equivalent to 48 metric tonnes. That's the weight of as many as sixteen mature male African elephants! Even the youngsters were enormous, measuring an estimated 13 to 23 feet in length, making them longer than a fully mature great white shark.
2. Giant Teeth
The megalodon did, in fact, possess enormous teeth. It possessed five rows of over 270 pointed teeth, and each tooth could grow to be over 7 inches long and over 4 inches wide at the base. The length of the megalodon tooth that is now considered to be the longest discovered is 7.6 inches.
Only the well-known Tyrannosaurus rex and the sabre-toothed cats are known to have had consistently larger teeth; the fangs of the Smilodon could grow up to 11 inches long, while the teeth of the T. rex could reach a maximum length of 9 inches.
3. Monster Bite
The megalodon should have been the primary focus of the film Jaws. It's possible that the individual teeth of the T. rex were larger, but the megalodon had jaws that were genuinely enormous! The one recreated by fossil collector Vito Bertucci is about 9 feet in height and 11 feet in width, making it the largest ever found. That's so enormous that it could easily accommodate an entire school bus with room to spare!
