Loco Pony audio "Tequila Is Addictive"
Colorado Springs hard country rock band Loco Pony released this single around 1981. Written by Lee Clayton this was produced by Merel Bregante, award winning producer and drummer with Loggins and Messina and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band to name 2.
Loco Pony was Jerry Williams on guitar and vocal, the talented Steve Hoke on wailing Les Paul guitar (Hoke also played fiddle, pedal steel, mandolin, banjo and now resides and performs in W Virginia), drummer is Todd Jarrel and on the bass is Tom Cook.
The band had a big local following and made for many memorable nights for those who retained memories.
Renowned jazz guitarist Johnny Smith lived in Colorado Springs after his wife passed away when their daughter was very young. Smith opened a music store and also performed on occasion. He was also friend of Jerry William's family and gave Jerry a Gibson Johnny Smith model jazz arch top guitar which Jerry played a few times at local gigs. ( I purchased strings and such from Johnny Smith's shop but never had the nerve to talk to Mr. Smith, what would I say?? "Hi, I suck."?)
The promo photo shown has an autograph on the back I acquired from another Colorado Springs native Hall of Fame MLB pitcher Rick "Goose" Gossage. He was at the club one night and numerous other nights...truly a great guy...
