I often hear people lament about the fact that there is no Alice in Wonderland dark ride in Magic Kingdom like there is in Disneyland. But there WAS going to be one, it just got put on the chopping block like so many other ideas for the park, likely because of budget.
Years later, Imagineering would take that same concept of rotating ride vehicles that Rolly had proposed for Alice and make it a reality in Disneyland, but for Roger Rabbits Cartoon Spin. They tested the vehicle concept by taking a teacup from the Mad Tea Party and putting it on the track for Pinocchio, and it worked so well they decided to move forward with the idea.
Also, how amazing would it be to enjoy your morning coffee from a balcony overlooking Main Street USA? I’m super sad Dorothea Redmond’s concept art for that was never fully implemented, though the interior of Tony’s Town Square Theater does have elements of a lobby of a hotel.
And YES, we do sorta kinda get pieces of Thunder Mesa in Disneyland Paris. But its definitely not the same as what was planned for WDW, especially the full version of the Western River Expedition 🥺
