Sink Hole on 16th St Omaha
Here are the current facts about the sinkhole in the alley just west of 16th Street, between Farnam and Harney.
City Engineers and inspectors say a number of factors could have caused the pavement to collapse. While the investigation to determine the cause is underway, our Sewer Maintenance technicians are removing the pavement to determine the full extent of the void. They will assess the sewer lines and manholes. MUD water and gas were shut off due to exposed mains and services. OPPD has restored power to the area, but may have additional minor repairs. MUD, OPPD, City Sewer, and the telecom utilities will need to assess damages and make any needed repairs.
Until further notice, South 16th Street between Harney Street and Farnam Street will be closed.
