Let's talk about an interesting perspective of this festival: the modern relevance of this tradition. During a thoughtful conversation with Konkani Ranmanus and many others, we learned that such rituals psychologically affect a regular human. It instils a feeling of seeing the jackfruit tree in a godly way or, if viewed optimistically, it nurtures the idea of seeing the entire forest as divine. This emotional and faith-driven connection to the forest ultimately discourages people from damaging it and its ecosystem.
Now, how deeply this ideology resonates with the villagers is questionable. In a world where the very idea of God has been shaped by capitalist motives, how much can we rely on such subtle manipulations of human belief for our own betterment?
