Jonathan & Christia's Story
Nik Abdul Rashid M.D. describes what Sickle cell disease (SCD) is, and her patients (brother and sister) that she treats on a regular basis, and how SCD patients can benefit from donors of the same ethnicity.
“Whether you’ve thought about it or you’ve never donated blood before, I’d like you to think about it now, not just adults with sickle cell need it, the children need it as well,” said Vanessa Dozier, mother of 10 year-old Christia and 29 year-old Jonathan who both have sickle cell disease.
