Today we're back at Dorney Park to check out their newest summer event, Summer Nights, a celebration of the best of Caribbean and Latin American culture. Let yourself be transported to tropical shores with live entertainment, authentic Caribbean and Latin American food and drinks, and family-friendly activities.
The entertainment line-up was the real draw here, featuring four different acts, Hot Rhythm Nights, Dorney's summer show, the Steelpan Jam, moved over from the water park, and two performances exclusive to the event. First we have Manteca Blue, a salsa band and a dance group Rumbamena. Both feature performances of Afro-Caribbean, Colombian and African music.
The food I tried was alright, but a step above the usual amusement park fare. Unfortunate that my arepas were dry. Had they not been, it would've been a real winner. The jerk chicken wings were delightful though and I'm glad Ryan from PR offered them to me. Other than some games (paid and unpaid), the other activity was a paint by number wall, reminiscent of the one used at Festival of the Arts at Epcot.
I think it's an amazing inclusion and hope to see more of this added should Summer Nights return next year! All and all, this is a solid high energy type of event that I'd recommend you check out. We'll be missing Grand Carnivale forever but this is a worthy replacement.
