Coaching Mentoring in Scotland – Mentoring Scotland's Young Generation [Promotional Video]
Short promotional video meeting with both mentors and young people involed with Scotland Charity Move On hearing their thoughts on mentoring in Scotland and befriending services the charity provides access to. This video was produced as part of a series of videos comissioned by the Scottish Mentoring Network which I helped produce while completing my BA Hons in Television Production at Edinburgh Napier University.
In this short video we explore what attracted them to the mentoring scheme, hearing what the benefits of mentoring are, finding out how young people work with their mentors and hearing about their experience.

Non-profit charity student video production
Move On is an organisation which aims to provide people with opportunities and break down barries preventing individuals from achieving their full potential. It acknowledges that society needs support at different times in our lives. The charity hopes to offer to everyone the opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence and gain life experiences.
I remember struggling to do things myself growing up as a teenager not having confidence for example to order something in a shop alone or to travel on a train without an adult, it's definitely something I could have benefited from and think it's great organisations such as Move On exist.
The organisation was setup in 1997 funded partially from Scotland's Big Issue to provide a number of different services for individuals impacted by homelessness. One of the first activities the charity got involved with was providing housing accommodation and support for those homeless.
Things evolved within the organisation around 1998 with a re-focus on supporting people in a wider context. Currently Move On offers employability skills training to disadvantaged young people in Scotland. In 2015 it won an award for quality awarded by the Scottish Mentoring Network.
The charity has done incredibly well over the past decade, gaining investment from Big Lottery, In 2014 it was accredited as an SQA Approved Centre offering SCQF level qualifications in employability and personal development, literacies and core skills.
The Scottish Mentoring Network was established in 1997 and is a membership body linked with mentoring projects across Scotland and exists to support recognition and growth in mentoring practices. The body currently provides a range of services to mentoring co-ordinators and mentors which includes membership support, training, events and collaboration with key stakeholders. The body aims to support it's members at all times.
Move On works in partnership with a number of different organisations across Scotland and the UK which includes Bethany, Capital City Partnership, City of Edinburgh Council, Edinburgh Cyrenians, FARE, FareShareUK, Fresh Start, Glasgow City Council, Impact Arts, Rock Trust and Venture Trust.
In addition to it's working partners Move On receives support from Arnold Clark Community Fund, Bank of Scotland Foundation, Deloitte, Coop, Hub Community Foundation, The Cumberland Bank, Barratt Developments, NatWest, Souter Charitable Trust, FIS, TSB and NHS Lothian.
