Royal Gorge, Colorado
Check out what the Royal Gorge Bridge is all about. It's near Cañon City, which is about 50 miles SW of Colorado Springs. It's a worthy tourist attraction if you're in the area. You could fill up a whole day by doing the 2hr gorge train ride along the Arkansas river in the morning from Cañon City, then visit the gorge bridge in the afternoon, another 14 miles away.
